Freedom of Information Requests

As a member of the public, you have the right to request any information held in custody or the control of Niagara Region.

Open government and routine disclosure

We are doing business differently. To do this, we are providing data online. This will help foster innovation, investment and entrepreneurship. Before submitting a formal request:

  1. Search the website to see if the information is already available
  2. Search Open Data to review any holdings which have already been published
  3. Contact the department as staff can often provide the information without a freedom of information request, saving you time and money

If the information is not available online or through the department, submit a Freedom of Information request.

I understand that:

  • An application fee may be required when I submit my request, and that this fee cannot be waived
  • There may be additional fees applied for photocopying/staff time, and if the estimate is over $100, you will notify me ahead of time
  • My request will take up to 30 days to process, and I will be notified if more time is required
