Request to Speak at Committee or Council Meetings
Residents have several options for communicating with Council, including:
- Speaking at a Standing Committee
Presenting at committee meetings allows time for discussion, debate and questions. Your presentation will receive in-depth study by the appropriate councillors.
In most cases, Regional Council approves recommendations coming from committee meetings.
- Speaking at Budget Committee
Residents and delegations may speak about the 2013 budget at Budget Review Committee of Whole meetings.
- Speaking at Regional Council
Residents and delegations may speak on agenda items at Regional Council meetings.
Residents appearing at council must be presenting new information that hasn't already been discussed at the appropriate standing committee meeting.
- Submitting a formal letter, having a one-on-one meeting
Residents can submit a formal letter for council's consideration.
Residents may also contact and speak with their councillor directly to ensure their concerns are being heard.
