Transportation Master Plan Update
All Niagara Region projects

About the project

Niagara Region is updating its Transportation Master Plan to guide transportation in the region through 2051.

The new plan will:

  • Update the 2017 plan: Replace it with one that reflects Niagara Region's growth forecasts, new policies, travel trends and planning to 2051
  • Review current conditions: Look at how people and goods move in Niagara and develop tools to guide upcoming transportation decisions
  • Plan for the future: Explore different scenarios to find the best options for improving the transportation network
  • Promote sustainable travel: Find ways to support greener choices and leverage future development
  • Recommend solutions: Provide strategies to address key transportation challenges based on growth, future needs and public input

The study will follow Ontario's Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process for master plans. It will complete phases 1 and 2, which include developing and evaluating alternative strategies for the Region's transportation systems and facilities.

Public input will be gathered throughout the study. A final report will be prepared and shared for public review at the end of the project.
