Are you a pregnant mother, birthing parent, or a mother with a baby up to 18 months of age who is feeling sad, angry, anxious or overwhelmed? You may be able to take part in a group-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) program for postpartum depression. During this nine-week series, you will meet as a group with public health nurses. Each week, you will learn new skills and tools to help manage your depression or anxiety. Register now and a public health nurse will contact you by phone or text within two to three business days. The nurse will make sure this program meets your needs and confirm that there is space available.
In this personal and thorough program about parenting in a positive way, you'll learn parenting strategies you can use and adapt to suit your family's needs. During this program, you'll spend eight hours of time with a public health nurse over two to four virtual group sessions; work with your public health nurse on learning goals; set your own goals and work out what changes you would like to see in your child's behaviour. A workbook is provided to help you record your goals and achievements. Throughout the program, parents will practice the suggestions and tips with their children. Therefore, the Positive Parenting Program Group is best suited for families with partial or full custody of their children.
