Admission to Long-Term Care Homes
Home and Community Care Support Services is responsible for applications to long-term care homes in Niagara.
They determine your eligibility and priority for admission, and manage the waiting lists for homes. They can also provide you with information about local homes, their services and things to consider when you're choosing a home.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Need on-site 24-hour nursing care
- Need help with daily living activities
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid Ontario health card
Cost
The homes offer three different accommodations: basic, semi-private and private. Accommodation rates are set by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
You may qualify for a rate reduction if the cost of basic accommodation is beyond your means.
