Cost and Application Process for Long-Term Care Homes

The Niagara Community Care Access Centre is responsible for applications to long-term care homes in Niagara.

They determine your eligibility and priority for admission and manage the waiting lists for homes.

To be eligible, most applicants must:

  • require on-site 24-hour nursing care
  • require assistance with daily living activities
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • have a valid Ontario Health Card

The Access Centre can provide you with information about local homes and their services as well as things to consider when you are choosing a home.

For information about eligibility and admission, call 905-684-9441 or 1-800-263-5480.

The homes offer three different accommodations: basic, semi-private and private. Accommodation rates are set by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

You may qualify for a rate reduction if the cost of basic accommodation is beyond your means.

If you are a veteran, you may qualify for extra financial help.
