Emergency Dental and Dentures
Niagara Region Discretionary Health Benefits program provides financial assistance for emergency dental services and dentures.
Emergency dental services for adults
You may be eligible for emergency dental services if you're a Niagara resident who is:
- Receiving Ontario Works, or
- A dependent adult on the Ontario Disability Support Program
Individuals are eligible for a maximum of $400 emergency dental services per year as outlined in the Niagara Region emergency adult dental fee schedule.
Denture services for adults
Niagara residents receiving Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program may be eligible for denture services.
Individuals are eligible for items and services as outlined in the Niagara Region adult denture fee schedule.
Applying for assistance
If emergency dental services or dentures are required, you must make an appointment with the dentist or denturist of your choice. Niagara has provided dental and denturist providers an easy way to check client eligibility for denture benefits through Accerta's Eligibility Verification Portal.
Once eligibility is confirmed, the dentist or denturist must be willing to agree to the terms and conditions set out in the Niagara Region Ontario Works adult denture fee schedules. All denture services must first have a pre-determination form submitted and approved by Accerta.

Dental services for children
Children and youth age 17 and under are eligible for assistance with dental services through Healthy Smiles Ontario.
Healthy Smiles Ontario is a government-funded dental program that will automatically enrol children in receipt of Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program funds or Temporary Care and offers free preventative, routine and emergency dental services. Low incomes families may apply online or by mail.
