About the project

Niagara Street (Regional Road 48), from Carlton Street (Regional Road 83) to Scott Street in St. Catharines, is a two-lane roadway serving north-south traffic flows. This section of the road provides access for residential, institutional and recreational uses. The existing road surface, drainage and structures are in poor condition and need reconstruction.

The design will include the urbanization of Niagara Street (Regional Road 48) from Carlton Street (Regional Road 83) to Scott Street. Such upgrades include, but are not limited to:

  • Replacing culverts
  • Repairing and reconstructing ditches, sidewalk, curb and gutter
  • Improving sight-lines
  • Active transportation facilities
  • Intersection improvements
  • Illumination
  • Drainage improvements
  • New storm sewer
  • Replacement and /or rehabilitation of sanitary sewers
  • Watermain replacement
