Community Energy Plan
All Niagara Region projects

About the project

Niagara Region is developing a Community Energy Plan to better understand how energy is used across Niagara and to create a roadmap for a more sustainable and resilient energy system.

The plan will look at energy use across Niagara's major sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, transportation and municipal operations. It will identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, support economic prosperity and ensure long-term environmental sustainability.

The project includes several phases:

Public survey

An online public survey will launch after the baseline energy study is complete. It will provide information about how energy is currently used across Niagara and gather input to inform the Community Energy Plan.

Input will relate to:

  • Awareness and understanding of energy use and climate change
  • Community values and priorities related to energy and emissions reduction
  • Barriers to taking part in energy transition efforts
  • Factors that may influence support for future actions

This input will help shape the plan's actions and implementation strategies.
