About the project
The Geneva Street project is a multi-phase affordable housing initiative led by Niagara Region to address urgent housing needs in St. Catharines.
Phase One includes a purpose-built bridge housing apartment to provide temporary, supported accommodations for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Future phases will introduce a mix of permanent multi-dwelling units, including supportive and rent-geared-to-income housing for individuals and families.
This development is part of Niagara Region's long-term housing strategy and will feature energy-efficient design and integrated on-site supports.
Supportive housing
Supportive housing helps people with complex needs achieve and maintain independent living in stable housing that provides essential support services.
Bridge housing
Bridge housing is short-term supportive housing that helps individuals transition from shelters or living outdoors to permanent housing. It offers intensive supports for mental health, addictions and physical health.
Residents work with staff to address trauma, overcome barriers and connect with services. The program fosters community connection and provides a stable foundation for long-term housing success.
Rent-geared to income housing
Rent geared to income housing provides affordable housing to eligible families and individuals with low-income where households pay no more than 30 per cent of their income towards rent.Project timeline
