Construction notice for the replacement of the Oswego Creek Bridge on Creek Road (Regional Road 45) in Wainfleet

Niagara Region will be replacing the Oswego Creek Bridge on Creek Road (Regional Road 45) between Diltz Road and Marshagan Road in the Township of Wainfleet under contract 2023-T-222.

This contract will be carried out on behalf of Niagara Region by Anthony’s Excavating Ltd. Construction was originally proposed to start in May 2024. Construction has been postponed for the 2024 construction season.

This postponement is to ensure the site is cleared of archeological significance. Once the site is cleared of archeological significance, construction can start.

The Oswego Creek Bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic and the detour will remain in place. Due to the upcoming archeological investigations, pedestrian traffic will now be prohibited over the bridge structure.

Inspection

Before construction, a representative from the contractor’s inspection firm: Ozza Inspections Ltd. will contact you to arrange for an inspection of the interior and exterior of your house or building.

The purpose of this inspection is to determine and document the extent of any cracking or other damage that exists before construction starts. This information can then be used to determine the extent of the contractor's responsibility in the unlikely event that damage to your house or building occurs during construction.

The representative will have identification for your review. It is to the property owner’s advantage to allow them to complete the inspection and document the condition of your property.

Further public notices will be provided as the site progresses through the archeological clearance and more detailed information can be shared.
