Who can apply

High school students
To work or volunteer at Niagara Region, you must:
- Be 18 years and under
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have a Social Insurance Number
- Be enrolled in full-time studies
- Have consent from a parent

Post-secondary students
Opportunities for post-secondary school students include:
- Co-ops (paid and unpaid)
- Summer jobs (paid) - posted January to March each year
To work as a co-op or summer student at Niagara Region, you must:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have a Social Insurance Number
- Have successfully completed Grade 12 or equivalent before the end of May
- Have proof of returning to full-time studies or need the placement as a condition of graduation

To work as an intern at Niagara Region, you must:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada

Dedicated volunteers enrich our long-term care homes by helping staff and residents with friendly visits, crafts, outings and meals.
Types of opportunities available
High school students
To apply for a volunteer placement, submit a Seniors Services volunteer application form and select 'I am a high school student seeking community volunteer hours'.
You can also contact the program manager at the long-term care home you would like to volunteer at.
Post-secondary students
We provide placement opportunities to over 400 students annually. If you're interested in a placement opportunity, contact your school's placement co-ordinator. We don't accept requests directly from post-secondary students.
Resident volunteers
We offer a range of volunteer roles including:
- Adult Day Service
