Exemptions to the One Bag Limit

Single-family homes, condos and apartments (two to six units) are allowed two garbage bag/cans every-other-week, unless there is an exemption given.

Granted to groups and individuals who meet certain criteria.

Exemption Details
Diapers

Your household has at least one child under the age of four in diapers.

Apply for diaper exemption online

If you have already been approved for a diaper exemption, you don't need to reapply.

You may apply for a diaper exemption only if you're unable to keep diaper waste within the two bag / can garbage limit, and / or cannot hold on to the diaper waste for a two week period.

Daycare You operate a daycare out of a residential property.

Medical

Someone in your household has a medical condition.

Group Home For group homes operated out of a residence.

Charities Charities registered with Canadian Revenue Agency may request collection through the Region's service in addition to recycling collection from a private contractor.
