NRT OnDemand

Due to COVID-19, barriers have been installed between the riders and drivers, and vehicles are cleaned regularly. Masks are required.

Book a Ride with NRT OnDemand

NRT OnDemand is a ridesharing pilot project for communities in West Niagara. It allows us to offer transit for everyone and connects you to more possibilities in Niagara.

Rideshare is a transportation option which uses smartphone technology and a fleet of dedicated vehicles to provide trips within the service boundaries with no fixed schedules or routes.

NRT OnDemand doesn't operate on a fixed route like conventional transit services. It lets riders request trips in real-time through the app or over the phone by selecting a pickup point and destination.

Fares and Service Areas

Your fare allows you to travel from your location to the pre-set destination you select when you book your ride. This is a flat fee service. The price will never increase based on your location or service area.

  • $3 for trips within your municipality (available to residents of Grimsby, Lincoln and Pelham)
  • $6 for trips to other communities (available to residents of Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham, Wainfleet and West Lincoln)

OnDemand riders arriving at any of our three transit hubs can transfer onto Regional or local transit to complete their trip.

For example, a rider can board an OnDemand vehicle in Grimsby, transfer to a Niagara Region Transit bus at the St. Catharines Bus Terminal, and travel to the Outlet Collection at Niagara, all for just the one Regional fare.

  • Booking your trip

Riders can book a trip up to 15 minutes before their departure. To book and pay for your ride using your credit card or pre-paid debit, download the app.

Those who don’t have a smartphone or can’t download the app can book a ride by calling 289-302-2172.

Drivers cannot accept payment or cash fares.

Once the app is downloaded, set your pick-up and drop-off locations. The app will then create a ride proposal and prompt you to confirm by selecting 'Book this ride'. Wait for your ride and check out details, including the vehicle's licence plate, driver name and more at the bottom of your screen.

Your vehicle will pick you up within a block or two of your doorstep or a nearby location / intersection. The average walk to a pick-up or drop-off location is 100 metres.

    Wait times

The maximum wait time is one hour. The maximum detour time to accommodate a ride share is 20 minutes.

    Cancellations

There will be a $1.50 cancellation fee if you cancel after 60 seconds of booking completion.

    Minimum age

Riders aged 13 to 18 can ride alone with the consent of their parents. Riders under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by an adult.
