Montrose Rd. (Regional Rd. 98) Reconstruction
All Niagara Region projects

About the Project

We're planning the reconstruction of Regional Rd. 98 (Montrose Rd.) from Regional Rd. 49 (McLeod Rd.) to Charnwood Ave.

In 2011, Niagara Region (along with the City of Niagara Falls), completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment which identified the need to reconstruct Montrose Rd. to address traffic capacity issues, safety and operational improvements, active transportation and complete streets. Between 2016 and 2019, the detailed design for the reconstruction was completed.

The project will include:

  • Installation of new storm sewers along Montrose Rd., and on Charnwood Ave. from Montrose Rd. to 100 metres west
  • New local watermain between McLeod Rd. and Kinsmen Crt. and new sanitary sewers between the MacBain Centre and Kinsmen Crt.
  • New sidewalks on the east and west side of Montrose Rd.
  • An asphalt multi-use trail on the east side of Montrose Rd.
  • New asphalt roadways and concrete curbs throughout
  • Updated street lighting throughout the project area
  • New traffic signals at the north entrance of the MacBain Centre and Lowes Plaza
  • Sodded and seeded boulevards with trees planted
