King St. (Regional Rd. 81) Urbanization
All Niagara Region projects

About the Project

King St. (Regional Rd. 81) is a major arterial road that runs through the central business district of Vineland providing a major link to other communities east and west of the project limit.

The project is located in the Town of Lincoln through Vineland, crossing a major intersection at Victoria Ave. that provides connectivity to the QEW. The project limit starts at Vinehaven Trail and 23rd St. at the easterly limit.

The goal of the project is to urbanize the existing two-lane rural road, including bike lanes, sidewalk and on-street parking.

The town expects to develop a streetscape that reflects the commercial, institutional, employment and residential use of the Vineland community.

The design approach aims to manage impact to highly vulnerable aquifer areas and Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority regulated water crossings identified as important fish habitat and core natural heritage feature.

The scope of work includes consideration for decorative streetlighting, relocation of all utilities underground, enhanced landscape and plentiful trees along the boulevard. The project will be phased to encourage engagement and support from the Vineland community while keeping in line with the preferred solution presented in the 2016 environmental assessment.
