Residents and motorists in West Lincoln can expect construction to start on Regional Rd. 20 in the coming months. Planning for this project has been underway since 2013.
Stage 1 of this project will begin in late fall 2019 with the construction of the Smithville Square Parkette and also the conversion of Station St. and West St. to a signalized intersection including reconstruction of the intersection and the construction of a parkette at Station St. focusing on the cenotaph.
Stages 2 and 3 of construction will begin in spring 2020 with the first roundabout being constructed at Regional Rd. 20 and Townline Rd. and the second roundabout at Regional Rd. 20 and South Grimsby Rd. 6 in late summer 2020. Construction is set to be complete by late fall 2020.
This project will also improve street lighting, upgrade sidewalks and add cycling facilities within the Region's right-of-way.

Businesses remain open
Temporary sidewalk and driveway closures may happen from time-to-time, but pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
Expected traffic delays
Regional Rd. 20 will be kept open to through traffic during construction, with the exception of paving. During paving, the road will be closed during night hours only and will reopen to traffic in the morning.
Throughout construction, there will be temporary lane restrictions which will result in delays. Residents and motorists can avoid delays by using alternative routes.
Upon completion of construction, there will no longer be on-street parking available on Regional Rd. 20 (West St.) between Station St. and Wade Rd. Residents and motorists are encouraged to utilize one of the off-street parking facilities available in the area.
