Niagara Regional Housing Intensification Project in Niagara Falls
All Niagara Region projects

About the Project

There is an urgent need for housing in Niagara. Niagara Regional Housing's Intensification Project on Hawkins Street and Heximer Avenue will increase the number of community housing units in Niagara Falls. Twelve units will be replaced with 73 units in two new apartment buildings:

  • A three-storey apartment building with 55 units at 6388 Hawkins St.
  • A three-storey apartment building with 18 units at 7180 Heximer Ave.

These units will be located across the road from Prince Charles Park, be close to a minor commercial district and have access to public transit. These features make this spot an ideal location for development.

This development supports:

  • Niagara Region's 10-year Housing and Homelessness Action Plan goal to help people find and keep housing
  • Regional Council's focus on Niagara as a 'healthy community that supports a safe, healthy, diverse, culturally rich community where people of all ages and incomes enjoy a high quality of life'
  • Niagara Regional Housing's vision statement: 'Niagara is a community where everyone has a home'
  • Niagara Regional Housing's mission statement: 'To provide and develop quality affordable housing opportunities for individuals and families while promoting self-sufficiency and neighbourhood'
