Niagara Falls Elevated Tank
All Niagara Region projects

About the project

Niagara Region has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study to identify a preferred solution for meeting storage requirements to efficiently operate the Niagara Falls water distribution system.

The Region's 2016 Master Servicing Plan identified volume deficiencies at the Lundy's Lane elevated tank and recommended the replacement of the tank with a new larger tank to provide additional system capacity to support growth and simplified pumping strategies.

This study is being planned as a schedule 'B' Class Environmental Assessment, satisfying phases one and two of the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, which is a planning process approved under Ontario's Environmental Assessment Act.

This study will define the problems and opportunities associated with the site, develop and evaluate alternative strategies, determine a feasible solution, and identify methods to avoid or minimize impacts on the community and natural environment.
