Lakeshore Road Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades
All Niagara Region projects
About the project
Niagara Region has initiated a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for the Lakeshore Road Sewage Pumping Station, located at 14A Lakeshore Rd. in Fort Erie.
The station was built in 1985 and has since undergone minor equipment replacements and maintenance while servicing the Town. Investigations conducted at the station indicate aging and deteriorating infrastructure that it is in need of repair or replacement to ensure it will properly service the Town of Fort Erie.
This study will define the current and future needs as outlined in the Water and Wastewater Master Plan and evaluate alternative strategies to avoid or minimize impacts to the community and natural environment. The Master Servicing Plan indicates increased capacity demands due to growing population within this area. The study will follow the guidance outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).
The map in the image gallery shows the current location for the Lakeshore Road Pumping Station.
The Region recognizes the opportunity for alignment between the Lakeshore Road Sanitary Pumping Station environmental assessment and the Catherine St. Sewage Pumping Station project due to their close proximity and the timing of the projects. Those interested are encouraged to investigate both project pages.
