Niagara Rail Service Expansion Environmental Study Report (April 2011)

The purpose of this report is to identify the preferred station and layover locations in Niagara for the anticipated GO rail service expansion. The key findings of this report included the following:

  • Preferred station options for Niagara are at Casablanca Blvd., St. Catharines VIA Station, Niagara Falls VIA Station
  • Identification of a future potential station location in Beamsville
  • Recommended layover locations at St. Catharines (Glendale Ave) and the Niagara Falls VIA Rail station
  • Service options with preliminary costs based upon opening day and future ridership forecasts

Phase 1: Study Context and Site Review

Interim Study Report - September 2016

The purpose of this report is to provide a summary of key findings from Phase 1 which focused on:

  • Data collection and review
  • An examination of the 2011 Environmental Study Report findings to confirm station locations
  • Identification of the preliminary study area boundaries for each station area
  • Commencement of the consultation program with the establishment of the Technical Advisory Committees and Stakeholder Advisory Committees for each municipality
