Niagara Region is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment for a new Fort Erie Water Storage Tank and watermain upgrades.
We recently updated its Water and Wastewater Master Servicing Plans, and a new elevated water storage tank is part of the recommended improvements to the Fort Erie water distribution system. The new elevated water storage tank will combine and replace Fort Erie's existing water storage systems which are approaching their end of service life. This tank will also improve current pumping operations, reduce long-term lifecycle costs and provide capacity to the Fort Erie water system required to support projected growth.
The Region has reviewed the existing water system, considered and evaluated suitable sites within Fort Erie for the construction of a new elevated water storage tank, and necessary improvements to the existing water system.
The map in our photo gallery shows possible options for the location of the new elevated water tank. The locations displayed are Pettit Rd. near Bridge St., Laur Rd./Sunset Dr. at the corner of Bowen Rd., and on Bowen Rd. west of Pettit Rd.
