Eastside Sewage Pumping Station Forcemain Replacement
All Niagara Region projects
About the project
In recent years, issues have arisen at the Eastside Sewage Pumping Station forcemain that have led to the need for alternative solutions to improve the facility.
Crossing the Welland Canal is a key component of future site servicing of the East Side Employment Lands as well as securing water supply to the east side of Port Colborne. The use of a joint crossing of all possible services crossing the canal will be a top consideration in the evaluation process.
Niagara Region has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study to assess alternative routes for the Eastside Sewage Pumping Station forcemain in Port Colborne.
The existing route of the forcemain is to the west of the Eastside Sewage Pumping Station and crosses the Welland Shipping Canal (the canal) north of Clarence Street. On the west side of the canal, the forcemain extends north to the Seaway Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This project will evaluate options for crossing the canal together with other planned infrastructure, specifically a Regional watermain to Barrick Road and the City of Port Colborne’s sanitary forcemain for the future East Side Employment Lands Sewage Pumping Station.
