Notice of Commencement and Public Information Centre #1

Niagara Region is completing a Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the Renown Sewage Pumping Station upgrades located at 7 Renown Rd. in St. Catharines.
The study will examine alternative solutions and designs to improve the functionality and operation of the Renown Sewage Pumping Station as it comes to the end of its design life cycle
The study process will include:
  • Identification and assessment of the problem or opportunity
  • Completion of public, stakeholder and Indigenous consultation
  • Identification and evaluation of alternative solutions
  • Identification of methods to minimize impacts to the community and the environment
Public Information Centre #1
A Public Information Centre will be held through an online format for anyone to give their input. All comments will be reviewed and taken into consideration by the project team during the Environmental Assessment process.
A recording of Public Information Centre #1 will be available to the public on the Renown Sewage Pumping Station project page on Dec. 5, 2022. Information on the project scope, objectives, alternative solutions and evaluation criteria will be presented.
The comment period for Public Information Centre #1 will be open until Jan. 16, 2023, and Niagara Region encourages the public to provide their comments or concerns during this six-week period. With the exception of personal information, all comments received will be incorporated into the Project File Report, which will be available for public review when the study is complete.
