Niagara Region has started a study to look at options for improving the Bender Hill Sewage Pumping Station located at 5615 River Rd. in Niagara Falls.
The station opened in 1962 and has serviced Niagara Falls during a variety of upgrades and maintenance over the years. Recent examinations of the site have shown that work must be done at the site to improve safety and repair old infrastructure.
Reviews of the site
show that the older infrastructure needs repairs and improvements. Also, this area is expected to grow with
future development, and the site will need to increase its ability through
infrastructure upgrades to keep up with the demand of pumping wastewater from
the area. With this in mind, the Region
is starting a Municipal Class EA Schedule ‘B’ Study to assess the site and find
the preferred solutions to meet these needs.
Niagara Region encourages anyone interested in this study to take part in the planning process. We invite you to come to a drop-in information session that will present details about the study, the process used to decide on possible solutions and allow you to share your comments and concerns.
