Church St. and King St. in St. Catharines to be converted to two-way traffic

On Tuesday May 28, Church St. in downtown St. Catharines will be converted to two-way traffic from Niagara to Court St. During this time King St. will also be converted from Court to Church St.

In the summer of 2018, Niagara Region and the City of St. Catharines began road construction activities along Church St., Geneva St. and Niagara St. to improve traffic flow and wayfinding through a portion of downtown St. Catharines. Drivers should be aware of the changes in traffic patterns and drive with caution. Advance warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in delineating the new lane configurations.

The City of St. Catharines has been working on its plan to convert downtown to two-way traffic since 2009 when it changed over St. Paul St. and sections of other nearby streets. Two-way traffic is being implemented to improve upon navigation, safety and congestion in the downtown core.

For more information on the updates taking place on Church St. and throughout downtown St. Catharines, visit the project page.
