For the 14th consecutive year, Niagara Region has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting in recognition of its 2017 Annual Financial Report.
The award was presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
To receive this distinction, a government organization must present financial information in a clear, concise and informative manner, with content that conforms to program standards.
The award recognizes financial reports that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.
The GFOA is a professional association of approximately 19,000 state, provincial, and local government finance officers in the United States and Canada.
