Canadian Tire Corporation newest naming sponsor at Canada Games Park

Canada Games Park (CGP) partners are excited to announce Canadian Tire Financial Services (CTFS) as the facility’s newest naming sponsor. As the home of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, the state-of-the-art complex is gearing up to welcome 5,000 of the nation’s top athletes this August.

CTFS, the financial arm of Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC), is the naming sponsor of CGP’s reception and gymnasium, both aptly named after the bank’s Triangle Credit Cards.

CGP’s multi-purpose, four-court gymnasium features the largest sprung floor in Canada and will host activities such as wrestling, basketball, volleyball, combat sports, and para sports. Each of the four courts in the gymnasium have been individually named after CTC’s various retail banners and charitable organization: Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark’s, and Jumpstart. CTFS is also the naming sponsor for the reception desk at CGP – the first friendly point of contact to welcome guests to the facility.

In support of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, CGP, a new state-of-the-art sport facility – was built to support the activities of the Games, taking place from August 6 to 21, 2022. Held every two years, the Games are designed to bring together thousands of up-and-coming Canadian athletes who will compete for the right to be a national champion.

Located at the corner of Merrittville Highway and Sir Isaac Brock Way in Thorold, Ontario, CGP will be the main venue for four of the 18 sports featured at the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, which were delayed one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the Games, CGP will be a legacy for the community and provide opportunities for accessible recreation, cultural events, and endless activities for decades to come.

Niagara Region, along with the City of St. Catharines, the City of Thorold and Brock University, formed a long-term agreement and a Consortium to manage and operate CGP following the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Additional funding for CGP was provided by the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario.
