Chair Bradley’s statement recognizing Pride Month across Niagara
Regional Chair Jim Bradley today issued the following statement in support of Pride Month in Niagara:
"Today I join with residents all over Niagara to raise the Progress Pride Flag in support of 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities and officially kick off Pride Month in Niagara.
Pride month is a time to celebrate the steadfast tenacity of gender- and sexually-diverse individuals who have fought, and continue to fight, for unqualified equality and freedom.
It is also a time for us to remember both the past and ongoing struggles of sexually and gender diverse residents, and reflect on ways we can all work together to create a more welcoming community for everyone.
Here in Niagara, this term of council has been taking steps to help build a more inclusive region. We fully acknowledge more remains to be done but we have demonstrated our commitment to prioritizing inclusivity and will continue to do so as we move forward together.
As Regional Chair, it is my hope that Niagara can continue to make progress together, being seen as a community where sexually and gender diverse individuals feel free to be their most true and authentic selves.
To help celebrate the Pride Month, I encourage residents to visit Pride Niagara
to see a list of local events."
