Niagara Region presented with the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting

Niagara Region has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR) in recognition of its 2020 Annual Financial Report. This is the 17th consecutive award presented to the Region and its Financial Management and Planning Department.

Established by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), the program encourages municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high-quality financial reports. The recognition is a significant accomplishment achieved through the efforts of Regional Council and staff.

To receive this distinction, a government organization must present financial information in a clear, concise and informative manner, with content that follows and meets program standards.

The Canadian Review Committee members have judged the Region’s 2020 Annual Report to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” and commitment to communicate Niagara’s financial story in a way that motivates potential users and user groups to read the report.

Quotes
