Now, more than ever before, it is important to safely support Niagara’s restaurants and other food service businesses. With that in mind, Public Health reminds residents to visit niagararegion.ca/inspect to view online health inspection reports before dining out.
Public Health inspectors conduct more than 6,800 food premises inspections each year, and those inspection reports, including any infractions, closures and convictions are posted to the website.
Ontario’s Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Ontario Food Premises Regulation outline the standards for what is required to operate food premises. Proper food temperatures, food handling, sanitation, dishwashing, prevention of contamination and/or adulteration and personal hygiene practices, are outlined and must be complied with.
Questions about operating a restaurant or home-based food premise? Please contact Niagara Region Public Health’s environmental health division. Inquiries and requests can be directed to email@example.com or the Environmental Health Duty Officer Line at 905-688-8248 ext. 7590.
