Niagara Region to remove the all-way stop at Glendale Ave. and Bessey St. in St. Catharines as of April 29

Niagara Region is removing the all-way stop control for the eastbound and westbound traffic at the intersection of Regional Rd. 89 (Glendale Ave.) and Bessey St., in the City of St. Catharines as of 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. The removal is reflective of Regional Council approval on Thursday, April 23.

The removal was based on several years of operational review then applied to the Ontario Traffic Manual which sets criteria to determine if stop signs are warranted. The warrants for an all-way stop control were not satisfied; in addition to congestion and safety factors. Therefore, a recommendation to remove the stop controls on Glendale Ave. was brought forward to Regional Council for approval.

Niagara Region would like to caution all motorists and vulnerable road users travelling through this area to pay extra attention to the adjusted traffic patterns.
