Creating healthy and vibrant communities with Dr. Karen Lee

Public health superstar, Dr. Karen Lee, is headed to Niagara on Jan. 28, 2020, to share her new book Fit Cities, as part of her Canadian book tour. Niagara Region Public Health, in collaboration with the YMCA of Niagara and Brock University, has arranged two book signing sessions for residents to connect with Dr. Lee.
  • 7 – 8 a.m., Walker Family YMCA, 25 YMCA Dr., St. Catharines
  • 3:30 – 5 p.m., Brock University Campus Store, 1812 Sir Isaac Brock Way, St. Catharines
With experience spanning over two decades, Dr. Lee has worked behind the scenes to help people world-wide create opportunities for healthy living in everyday life. Working with civic leaders, city planners, and architects, she has been a pioneer in addressing today's leading health problems, such as obesity, heart disease, strokes, cancers, and diabetes.

“This is a book about health,” said Dr. Lee. “It’s about your health, and the health of the city or town in which you live. Because – make no mistake – the two are intimately connected.”

During her visit, Dr. Lee will also engage with community leaders from across Niagara in a panel discussion, and leverage her research to enhance and inform local strategies to help Niagara residents live healthier lives.
