Assertive Street Outreach
Niagara Region homelessness services funds a collaborative, region-wide street outreach program called Niagara Assertive Street Outreach.
Assertive Street Outreach is a housing-focused program which:
- Engages with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness to minimize the harmful effects
- Helps individuals work towards long-term housing solutions
- Uses proven tools to assess needs and identify appropriate housing resources
- Works with government (such as Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program) and non-profit organizations (such as shelters) to support those who may be reluctant to use traditional services
- Provides a coordinated team approach to identify and work towards personal goals
Eligibility
This program is for individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. This may include individuals who are sleeping outdoors, in abandoned buildings, using encampments and tenting, or sleeping in their vehicles.
