Everyone that filed a nomination paper with Niagara Region to participate in the municipal election as a regional chair candidate must file their financial statements with the regional clerk. These statements detail the income and expenses incurred during the candidate's campaign.
Financial statements must be submitted to the regional clerk by 2 p.m. on March 29, 2019.
All financial statements are public documents which the regional clerk retains until the new council takes office after the 2022 scheduled election. These documents may be inspected online or in person during normal office hours. Any person may make extracts from the documents and is entitled to copies of the documents, but must only do so knowing that the information obtained shall only be used for election purposes as per the Municipal Elections Act.
If you require an alternate format of the statements, call 905-980-6000, ext. 3252 or email email@example.com.
The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 requires each municipality and school board in Ontario to establish a compliance audit committee to consider compliance audit applications.
In 2018, the municipalities and school boards of Niagara once again partnered to establish the joint Niagara Compliance Audit Committee.
