Airports Study

We are seeking public input into the potential future involvement of the Region in Niagara's two existing municipally-funded airports.

Niagara Central Dorothy Rungeling Airport
435 River Rd., Pelham

Organizations and tenants based out of the airport include:

  • Niagara Skydive Center Inc.
  • 87 Eagle Squadron Air Cadets
  • St. Catharines Flying Club
  • Tarczy Aircraft

Approximately 50 aircraft are based out of the airport including the recreational users. The most recent economic impact study undertaken estimated a current annual economic benefit of $4.5 million within the region from airport-based activities. The airport is currently financially supported by Pelham, Welland, Port Colborne and Wainfleet, and operated by the Niagara Central Airport Commission

Niagara District Airport
468 Niagara Stone Rd., Niagara-on-the-Lake

In 2015, 32,287 aircraft movements were recorded at the airport, including 181 jets. Organizations and tenants based out of the airport include:

  • Genaire
  • National Helicopter
  • Civil Air Search and Rescue Association
  • St. Catharines Flying Club
  • NAV Canada is on-site and 24-hour customs clearance by the Canadian Border Service Agency is available
