Notice of Public Information Centre #1 for Grimsby (Baker Road) Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Environmental Assessment

Niagara Region is undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the expansion of the Grimsby (Baker Road) Wastewater Treatment Plant to service future growth. The plant is located at 160 Lake St. in Grimsby and receives wastewater from Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln.

 

Expanding the plant to 47.3 million litres per day as recommended by the 2021 Water and Wastewater Master Servicing Plan Update will support growth in the area. This study will help the system's long-term sustainability and address current needs.

 

 

This study is being completed as a Schedule “C” project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The study covers Phases 1 to 4 of the process.

 

Once the study is complete, an environmental study report will be prepared. It will document the planning and decision-making process and will be submitted to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. The report will be available for a 30-day public review period.

 

 

Niagara Region encourages the public to take part in this planning process. The online Public Information Centre will introduce the study and gather input from the community. It will also present existing conditions in the study area, alternative solutions, how they were evaluated and the recommended solution.

 

The presentation and supporting materials will be available on the Grimsby Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Environmental Assessment and Conceptual Design project page from Monday, May 11 to Thursday, June 11.
