Province introduces legislation to change the composition of Regional Council

​Niagara Region is aware of Provincial legislation, tabled today, which would introduce changes to how Niagara Regional Council is composed. 

Right now, the Region has not received any official direction or correspondence from the Province regarding the implementation of these changes. We expect more information to be shared if the legislation is approved. 

Regional staff are committed to working with the Province, with Regional Council and with our local municipal partners to ensure a smooth transition to any new governance model.
