Notice of Public Information Centre for St. Paul Street West (Regional Road 81) and Vansickle Road in St. Catharines
Niagara Region has started a study to evaluate options for intersection improvements at St. Paul Street West (Regional Road 81) and Vansickle Road in St. Catharines. The study is to address traffic and safety concerns.
The project area covers Vansickle Road about 270 metres north to Ridley Road and 280 metres south to Meteor Street, and St. Paul Street West about 250 metres east and 250 metres west.
Process
The project began as a Schedule B project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (February 2024), approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. As the study moved into Phase 2, it was confirmed the project would be exempt from the full Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and continue as a Transportation Study.
Even though the project is proceeding outside the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, Niagara Region will continue to engage with residents and others interested in the project. This includes the upcoming Public Information Centre. When the study is finished, the findings will be documented in a report available for a 30-day public review.
Niagara Region would like to ensure that anyone interested in this study has the chance to share input into the planning and design of the project.
Public Information Centre
The Public Information Centre will be held in person in a ‘drop-in’ format, with study materials on display and the study team ready to answer questions. A presentation will start at 6 p.m. to give an overview of the project.
