Niagara Region’s fall compost giveaway and food drive is back
Fall is just around the corner, but it’s not too early to start prepping your garden for spring. Our fall compost giveaway is your chance to enrich your soil before winter sets in.
From Monday, Sept. 29 to Saturday, Oct. 4, Niagara Region is offering compost at select Regional landfill sites in exchange for a cash or food donation.
While quantities last, Niagara residents can pick up 20-litre bags of compost (three-bag limit) at the following locations:
- Bridge Street Waste and Recycling Depot in Fort Erie (1300 Bridge St.)
- Niagara Road 12 Landfill in West Lincoln (7015 Concession Rd. 7)
- Humberstone Landfill in Welland (700 Humberstone Rd.)
Residents must load the compost into their own vehicles. To avoid delays, plan your visit outside of the busiest days (Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays).
In exchange for the compost, residents are asked to donate non-perishable food items or cash in support of these local charities:
