We're starting the GO Station Precinct Development Project located on St. Paul Street West, Great Western, Ambrose and Ridley Road in St. Catharines.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in the coming weeks by Rankin Construction Inc.

  • Construction of the new St. Paul Street Bridge is expected to be completed by the end of December 2025, weather permitting
  • Reconstruction of Ridley Road and the redevelopment of the existing station is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026, weather permitting
Visit the St. Paul Street GO Precinct Development project page for upcoming project updates, road closures and related detour routes.

Follow Municipal511.ca for real-time information on Niagara Region road closures and construction updates. Municipal 511 shares road information that is connected directly to Google Maps and Waze and helps Niagara Region, local area municipalities and the Ministry of Transportation to better coordinate local construction projects to minimize traffic disruption.

Every effort will be made to keep access to nearby properties and minimize inconvenience to businesses, residents and pedestrians.

There will be some inconvenience to you at times during the construction period. Due to the scope of work involved, driveway access may be affected. Every effort will be made to give you advance notice should this occur. Staff will contact you to discuss details of your driveway entrance.

To protect construction workers and complete the work safely and cost effectively, single lane closures may happen which could cause traffic delays. Pedestrian access will be available, but be careful when walking through the construction zone.

At the start of the project, the construction inspector will advise you if any landscaping items on Region property, like trees, shrubs, fences, or irrigation systems, will be affected. Property owners should remove and / or relocate these items before construction as they may otherwise be damaged, destroyed or removed (and not replaced) by the contractor during construction. If you have an irrigation system on the Region’s property, you must spray paint, white paint only, or stake out the location of your irrigation system within six metres of the roadway. Only irrigation systems, which have been correctly located by the property owner and are damaged by the contractor, will be repaired. The property owner will be responsible for repairs to any irrigation system on the Region’s property that is damaged which has not been previously located by the owner.

Before work starts, someone from the contractor’s inspection team, OZA, will contact you to inspect the inside and outside of your property. This inspection will document any existing damage before construction. If there’s any damage during the project, this information will help determine the contractor's responsibility. The inspector will have identification for your review. It's to the property owner’s advantage to allow them to complete the inspection and document the condition of your property.
