Notice of Public Information Centre - Reconstruction of Regional Road 1 (Dominion Road) from Burleigh Road to Buffalo Road in Fort Erie

The Project

eam-Rankin Joint Venture Ltd. has been retained by Niagara Region to undertake the design and construction of improvements to Regional Road #1 (Dominion Road) from Burleigh Road to Buffalo Road, approximately 5.7km in length. These improvements include the:

  • Replacement of existing watermain
  • Full reconstruction of the roadway
  • Regrading of ditches
  • Intersection illumination
  • Rehabilitation of the existing bridge over 6 Mile Creek
The watermain portion of the proposed works includes replacement of the existing Regional trunk watermain from Burleigh Road to Rosehill Road. Construction is anticipated to commence in Fall of 2017 and be completed by December 2018.​

The Process

The project is being conducted in accordance with Schedule 'A+' of the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) guidelines (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public Information Centre

A Public Information Centre has been arranged to provide an opportunity for individuals, interest groups and agencies to review the proposed works. This public information centre will be conducted as an informal session, with information on the project (including planned construction activities, future disruptions and site specific property impacts) available for the public to view. Staff from Niagara Region and the Beam-Rankin team will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
