Temporary used oil service interruption at Humberstone Landfill
Residential drop-off of used motor oil at the Humberstone Household Hazardous Waste Depot, located at 700 Humberstone Rd. in Welland, will be temporarily unavailable while scheduled maintenance and tank remediation work is completed.
Expected service interruption is from Monday, Aug. 17 to approximately Friday, Aug. 21.
During this period, residents are asked not to bring used motor oil to the Humberstone Household Hazardous Waste Depot. Residents may use one of the following alternate depot locations:
- Thorold Household Hazardous Waste Depot
- Bridge Street Household Hazardous Waste Depot
- Niagara Road 12 Household Hazardous Waste Depot
As a reminder, liquid waste brought to household hazardous waste depots, such as motor oil, must be no larger than 20 litres each. Residents may bring a maximum of 40 litres of liquid waste per day. Barrels and / or drums of liquid waste will not be accepted.
The exact date that the used oil service will resume is dependent on completion of the work. If you are unable to use an alternate location, please consider returning to the Humberstone location once the used motor oil service resumes.
The Humberstone Landfill remains open during this maintenance work. Only the used motor oil disposal service is temporarily affected.
Your patience is appreciated while this work is completed.
