Service level changes for Industrial, Commercial and Institutional properties starting June 5

All Industrial, Commercial and Institutional and mixed-use properties outside the Designated Business Areas will receive unlimited, curbside collection for recycling (Blue and Grey Boxes/Carts) and organics (Green Bins/Carts) starting June 5.

Regular and convenient access to recycling and organics programs helps to support Niagara Region's efforts to increase diversion from the waste stream. The program change will also help standardize service levels across Niagara, as businesses inside the Designated Business Areas already receive unlimited collection of these materials.

Service Eligibility Criteria

Industrial, Commercial and Institutional and mixed-use properties must meet the following criteria in order to receive unlimited recycling and organics curbside collection:

  • Industrial, Commercial and Institutional building is 3 or less storeys; and
  • Do not receive private recycling and/or organics collection service

If an Industrial, Commercial and Institutional or mixed-use property is using private garbage collection services (i.e. a dumpster), unlimited recycling and organics curbside collection is available, but the property is not eligible to place garbage at the curb for collection by Niagara Region.

If you would like more information about the expanded program, to purchase carts for use at an Industrial, Commercial and Institutional or mixed-use property, or to determine eligibility of your property, visit niagararegion.ca/waste or call the Waste Info Line at 1-800-594-5542.
