​Quit smoking for National Non-Smoking Week

NIAGARA REGION - Niagara Region Public Health is celebrating National Non-Smoking Week 2017 (Jan. 15-21, 2017) by supporting Niagara residents to make a quit attempt.  Several options exist to assist residents to quit smoking:
  • Adults 18+ can register at 905-688-8248 ext. 7240 for free STOP smoking workshops to receive support and five weeks of free patches (Nicotine Replacement Therapy)
  • Young adults between 18 and 29 can register at www.wouldurather.ca before Jan. 22, 2017 for the Would You Rather…contest; participants can win cash for quitting and non-smokers can win for staying smoke-free.  Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy is available. 
National Non-Smoking Week aims to:
  •  Educate Canadians about the dangers of smoking 
  • Prevent people who do not smoke from beginning to smoke and becoming addicted to tobacco
  • Help people quit smoking
  • Promote the right of individuals to breathe air unpolluted by tobacco smoke
  • De-normalize the tobacco industry, tobacco industry marketing practices, tobacco products, and tobacco use
  • Assist in the attainment of a smoke-free society in Canada
