Burgoyne Bridge closure moved to Dec. 8

NIAGARA REGION – The full closure of the Burgoyne Bridge originally scheduled to begin on Monday, Dec. 5 will now begin on Thursday Dec. 8. The bridge will be open on Dec. 5, 6 and 7 to regular vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

A full closure of the Burgoyne Bridge is now scheduled to occur from Dec. 8 to Dec. 18, 2016. During this time the bridge will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Vehicle traffic will be detoured via Regional Road 81 (St Paul Street), Louth Street, Regional Road 77 (Fourth Avenue), and Ontario Street during the closure.

Details on the pedestrian detour during the closure are still being finalized. Those details will be available on Monday, Dec. 5.

These closures are required in order to complete installation of the cable supports and suspend the bridge from the structural arch.
