Central Avenue Bridge, Fort Erie

Fort Erie's Central Avenue Bridge (Regional Road 124) carries traffic over the CN Rail international rail corridor and Lewis Street.

Built in 1953, recent evaluations of the bridge's condition and load capacity has identified the need to repair or replace the bridge.

This study will determine whether to repair, replace and or realign the Central Avenue Bridge. It will include:

  • Determining a preferred design in consultation with the public and regulators
  • Potential traffic detours on other area roads
  • Assessing for Archaeological, Heritage and Cultural Landscape
  • Geotechnical and ecological investigations
  • Topographical survey of the area
