Emergency and Essential Services Stream
There are different eligibility requirements for children who need emergency and/or essential care. Eligibility requirements can be found in the Schedule of Dental Services and Fees Guide.
Dental providers can assess clients and help them enrol in the Emergency and Essential Services Stream or refer clients in non-emergency situations by calling the Niagara Region Public Health Dental Health Line at 905-688-8248 or 1-888-505-6074 ext. 7962.
Under the Emergency and Essential Services Stream of Healthy Smiles Ontario, eligible children and youth will receive dental coverage for emergency and / or essential services for six months from their date of enrolment.
At the end of the six months, eligible clients may reapply for the Emergency and Essential Services Stream or are encouraged to apply to the Healthy Smiles Ontario Core Stream if they are eligible. Each child / youth can enrol in the Emergency and Essential Services Stream a maximum of three times in their lifetime.
