Old Orchard Sewage Pumping Station and Forcemain Replacement in the Town of Grimsby

Sealed tenders, plainly marked as to contents, will be received by Niagara Region Corporate Services, Campbell West, 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way, Thorold, ON, until 2 p.m. local time.

The work to be carried out under this contract consists of, but is not limited to:

  • Replacement of existing sewage pumps and equipment (excluding wet well structure, overflow manhole and natural gas generator), with new submersible pumps and equipment, including new power service (from existing site power transformer), new 600 volt MCC and new instrument control panel on a new concrete pad and bus shelter-style structure.
  • Replacement of existing valve chamber with new valve chamber (4,200 mm long and 2,400 mm wide) at the pumping station site, with piping, valves and instruments.
  • New 200 mm diameter PVC forcemain, proceeding from Old Orchard Sewage Pumping Station eastwards along Lakeside Drive and southwards along Elizabeth Street approximately 680 metres long in total. Bypass pumping and/or sewage hauling while new manhole 2 is installed will be necessary for continuity of sewage servicing.
  • New air valve chamber along forcemain on Elizabeth Street (for pressure surge protection)
  • Complete removal and replacement of the Pumping Station site's water and natural gas services.
  • Installation, commissioning and operation of temporary bypass pumping system, while equipment in Old Orchard Sewage Pumping Station is removed and replaced
  • System integration, SCADA programming, start-up and commissioning of completely rehabilitated Old Orchard Sewage Pumping Station.
  • Associated restoration and landscaping works.

This contract utilizes the "Niagara Peninsula Standard Contract Document" (Revision 17) which forms the specification documents. The "Standard Document," excepting the "Special Instructions to Bidders, Form of Tender, and Supplementary Special Provisions," which are formatted for each project individually, is available on the Internet in the "Tenders" section of the Niagara Region website (www.niagararegion.ca).

Plans, Specifications, and Form of Tender may be obtained from Niagara Region Corporate Services, Campbell West, 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way, Thorold, ON. A non-refundable payment in the amount of $200, (reflecting part of the cost of document preparation), will be required for each set of tender documents taken. Tender documents will be available for pick up after 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017. Plans and specifications may be viewed without charge, but not removed, at the major construction association offices.

All tenders must be accompanied by a tender deposit in the amount of $100,000.

A non-mandatory pre-bid site meeting will be held at the Old Orchard Sewage Pumping Station located at 6 Lakeside Dr., Grimsby at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.

Tenders will be publicly opened at 2:15 p.m. at 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Pkwy., Thorold. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
